If you haven't already heard, parking tomorrow is a major concern of the administration. NHS will need to do its part and not add to extra traffic around the building tomorrow morning.
See you Friday. If you have conflicts, let your attendance officer know. No need to ask me for permission.
Oh, and if you somehow haven't heard -- tomorrow, Seniors are parking in the Junior lot, and Juniors are asked to not drive to school.

Snow Plan
Well, this is fun.
The results of the group 1 snow day alternative poll show that 67.7% of respondents wanted to wait until Thursday of next week for their meeting make-up. So, that's when the next group 1 meeting will be.
That's all well and good; however, there is more snow in the forecast for tonight.
Yeesh.

Next meeting: All member February 2nd
Please contact Clare if you have items you would like to get onto the February 2nd agenda. Among other things, we're already planning to do a clarification of the hours categories.
There is no meeting this week, but keep the following items in mind:
There is no meeting this week, but keep the following items in mind:
- As far as we can tell, no action has moved forward on:
- The Penguin Plunge or Dip
- Kids' Vote
- There has been some interest expressed in emails, but it is unclear if we have a single student leader (or pair of leaders) that is going to coordinate with these events
- Dues and contracts are due at the next meeting. If it has been lost, here is a copy of the contract to sign.

New Members: To Do List
Mark the Next Meeting on your Calendar
Before we head to break, this is a reminder that the next National Honor Society meeting will be on Thursday, January 5, 2017, in the theater at 7:15 am. This meeting is a mandatory meeting for all members.Join a "Mini-Group"
In addition to a full membership meeting once a month, you will also be responsible for a second meeting in a smaller group. These smaller groups allow us to keep our large body of students organized.
You need to join a mini-group prior to January 5th. Open the Google Spreadsheet and add your name to the group of your choice. Pay attention to when the group meets. If you do not do this yourself prior to the first meeting, the officers and advisers will add you to a group instead.

Ready your Dues
In order to cover the cost of your honor cord, pin, other regalia, and other club costs, each member must pay dues of $20. You may pay via cash or check. If you pay with a check, the check must be made out to Bedford High School. Bring your dues to the January 5th meeting.
Join x2VOL (Optional)
If you'd like to get familiar with our hours-logging system now, then review the presentation below for instructions on how to join x2VOL. Our mini-meetings in January will be dedicated to training and clarifying our x2VOL procedures.
Join our Facebook Group (Optional)
We predominantly use School Gmail to keep members informed, but Facebook allows an extra layer of interactivity that email does not. You can request to join our private group here.

Reminder: Full Membership Meeting Tomorrow
If you know that you will not be able to make tomorrow's meeting, make sure you contact your role call officer as soon as possible. Remember that there will be no sign in tomorrow, but rather you should check in with your role call officer before sitting down with your friends.
Here is the agenda as it currently stands:

Club fair (2nd call) & schedule posted
The NHS bulletin board has been updated with some important information.
While tomorrow's groups will focus on x2VOL training (hopefully), it's expected some members will want to come around to drive up support for their current service opportunities. Please see Sasha's FIT drive and Club Fair sign up.
We currently have 1 member signed up to help with the Club Fair. That would be 0.009% of our total membership. Are we really that busy on Friday?
We will also be establishing role officers for each group tomorrow.
It's time to start making something out of this year!

Class of 2017... Welcome back; there's work to do.
- Does anybody want to lead a teacher appreciation event Tuesday? Typically NHS does something to make the BHS teachers' week special. The PTG has offered up Tuesday for us. My suggestion would be to do an early morning decoration of the three teacher offices, but if someone has a different surprise they'd like to pull off, I'll turn it over to you. I don't need to be part of the planning (I am a teacher after all), but let me know so I can tell the PTG that something is happening on Tuesday. If you need adult help, I can connect you to them.
- There's a mandatory meeting for Juniors this Thursday. If there are Seniors still getting these announcements, you can, of course, come for a meeting credit, but there will be nothing on the agenda concerning you. It's a good way to flag me down for signatures, however.
- Only about 8 weeks to go. Whoa!

5 Important Midweek Announcements
- You are getting noticed. As I've mentioned to many of you, it's hard for me to be everywhere at once. But, I am starting to get teachers and administrators like Mrs. Magnusson, Sra. Sarsfield, Dean Blaney, and Mr. Jozokos checking in with me and telling me that you guys are everywhere and doing great. It's a lot of time and energy, but Juniors, you are molding our chapter with your vision, and Seniors, you are going out with a memorable bang. Awesome, thank you.
- RSVP for Saturday. Check your Schoogle account and RSVP to our Saturday party. When we started planning, wasn't sure if Saturday was going to work, and now it appears that I have 450 slices of pizza ordered for 13 students. I hope you're hungry! In all seriousness, I really hope you can come. We'll be done by 8, promise.
- Tomorrow's meet-up is half hour earlier. If you want breakfast snacks and a meeting credit, tomorrow's meet-up is 7am - 7:30am. There's donut holes, granola bars, fruit, and orange juice. Say hello.
- Update our scoreboard. Project leaders, upload how many hours BHS students have contributed to your event today. That spreadsheet is here.
- Sign-up for State Spring Conference. This is a reminder that you must decide by Thursday if you want to join NHS on a field trip to Colby-Sawyer on Friday, May 20th. RSVP here.

Love Your Body - Week of Service Team-Up ASSSSSEMBLE!!
If you're up to date with your email, you know that the counseling department is pumped that our Week of Service and their Love Your Body week is overlapping. They know what a great resource we are, and they want to tap into your willingness to lead or get involved.
Mrs. Lipinski has set aside a time this Thursday morning at 7:30 am in her office for students who want to lead Love Your Body activities to meet with her and do some planning.
Now, check out those keywords. It's a meeting that's being held a half hour later than our planned optional meeting, but would definitely be furthering the goals and outreach of our chapter. It's a great example of how the independent meeting pilot program could be tested.
So, if you're not already invested in another Week of Service project, and you're interested in leading some Love Your Body work, do these two things:

- Someone will need to fill out a meeting form. It's okay if more than one person tries, you can sort that out in the room Thursday morning. By the way, a finished meeting form is attached below.
- Please email Mrs. Lipinksi (lipinskiv@sau25.net) and tell her you're coming. She shouldn't have to wake up early if no one shows; or, she'll need to be prepared if all 200 of you plan to stop by!

Lots of meeting opportunities coming up
Tomorrow's optional meeting
Computers will be available and members will have the opportunity to continue working on Week of Service activities. Mr. Ahnert will be meeting with students to begin planning the End of Week Party.
Week of Service Scheduling & Promotion team
The WoS scheduling & promotion team needs to know when your activity is taking place, and how BHS students will be signing up to participate. Email Molly Quinn with your information or join her team.
Charity Ball
The New Hampshire National Honor Society is holding a charity ball, which can count as 2 meetings or chapter service. The flyer has been posted to our communication board or visit the state chapter Facebook page.
Spring Conference
Ever wonder why Bedford isn't on the state executive committee? It's because we didn't go to the state conference last year. Spring Conference has been set for Friday, May 20th. I doubt Seniors will be interested (unless they're desperate for hours/meetings), but for Juniors interested in getting involved on the state level, it's an opportunity to become a state-wide leader or to pick up 2 meetings. Put it on the calendar, we'll sign up for this at the May 5th mandatory meeting.
Reminder
You can now get meeting credit for any of these events, as long as you document your time there. See this news post. Forms and flowcharts for all NHS processes are available at our lovely communication bulletin board, and you can always invite members to join you in a meeting or service project by making an NHS announcement yourself via this Google Form.

Optional Meeting Agenda, News & Notes
Tomorrow's optional meeting will be available for Week of Service groups to further plan their activities, begin to finalize Week of Service scheduling, and to address any NHS-related questions. A discussion on the purpose of meetings will also be on the agenda.
If you're interested in any of these agenda items, more detail is covered below.
Attendance
Week of Service
I am proud that all Week of Service groups made plans to meet with Mr. Hagen regarding the questions he still had about their planned activity. But, I need to know if your activity is now approved. Could you please give me a status update about how your meeting went?
Optional Meeting Alternatives
We need to repurpose and renew our commitment to why we hold multiple meetings during the year, and what it means to be a commited and functioning NHS member. I will be leading a discussion and proposal tomorrow and will be looking for feedback from the membership on my idea.
If you're interested in any of these agenda items, more detail is covered below.
Attendance
Attendance records are now up to date except for Junior attendance for the 2/18/2016 optional meeting. Who has the attendance list?
Attendance probations have been delivered through advisories.
